    Here’s a story for everyone. I booked my honeymoon at the st Regis Maldives for 5 nights on an award stay in March of 2020 last week. 5 nights in an overwater bungalow for 890k points (point advance reservation). I knew Marriott had been having such issues so I took screen shots of practically everything I could. I go to look today again, and somehow my reservation had jumped from 890k points to 1.5 million on the website!!! I called and acted like I didn’t have any record of the 890k and the customer service representative (CSR) said Marriott had just changed their upgradable points award stay rooms. I said no ma’am that happened weeks ago and took cat 8 hotels from 60k to 85k, and that has nothing to do with what I booked solid in stone. The room i was booking was higher than a base room so it was an upgraded points advance room. She did some sidewards talking until I said “oh actually I forgot I have screen shots of everything at time of booking to show the points per night summary, etc. She then backtracked and said she had a legacy system that could see it and she’s not sure why on the website it was automatically jumping to almost double the points. She opened a case for me and now I have to wait 5-7 business days to talk to someone. Has anyone had this type of experience before? I just thank god I took these screen shots!! So upsetting what has happened to Marriott. I wish SPG would come back 😞

    Reward changes for more points and fake fees

    I booked a reward for 810k points in Jan 2019 for st Regis Maldives. All the sudden my friend mentioned that my reward when up to 930k points and that it was associated with $4000 in fees. After many attempts of calling Marriott elite Services, they tell me we changed the awards categories and notified everyone on social media. My friend who is attorney said no, this is a breech of contract. They all the sudden we’re trying to charge us fees for 2nd, 3rd and 4th person. And oh, it was the exact amount of a rollaway bed fee. We were told that there was a roll away bed that really pulled out to accommodate 2 people by the hotel directly. After about 8 calls to Marriott totally over 10 hours of calls we said we would sue as a class action. My friends had already purchased flights and this new points were absolutely inaccurate and would cause me to not be able to keep the reservation. Marriott made zero attempt to notify me of any change. Stating they posted on social media the changes. They masked hidden fees. Tried to lie constantly. We showed policy statements. Only until a class action suit was discussed that they started to have a discussion. Giving me the extra points into my account to entire that my original reservation and reward was locked. The hotel directly finally relented and said that we didn’t have to pay the extra fees. Rewards are to cover fees and extra guest fees as well. It was a 3 week battle. By the way I waited 3 months for Marriott to complete my name change update. And o got my platnium status over a month after I achieved the status. Ok hugely possed off. Not disappointed. It was disgusting how we were treated. I literally used my life savings of points for the reward and I was treated like crap and had to have an attorny involved to get my legal rights to executed reservation.
