Downgraded room received at a 4 PM check-in (from reserved partial oceanview king to a "bat cave" garden view 2 queen). When I requested the ultimate reservation guarantee cash from the manager or be walked to a nearby comparable property per the guarantee terms, she flat out refused and would only provide an extra 500 points.
Property did not provide a lounge or restaurant breakfast amenity (because their restaurant is "outsourced"). They tried to offer a lobby starbux coffee and 1 paltry pastry in lieu of the required breakfast amenity.
Manager also flat out refused to provide the "internet replacement" benefit when charging the resort fee. She stated "we don't do that here". All in all, it was a lousy 1 nite stay at a $600/nite property. No "basic" Bonvoy stated benefits offered (I didn't even press for a suite upgrade), combined with a high and mighty staff attitude and no attempt to offer any offset(s).
BTW, despite its name, this property has no beach. The Residence Inn up the hill provides better value, and the Bonvoy stated benefits, with a much better staff demeanor. For $600, I will go to the nearby ANDAZ or Fairmont next time.
